Civic Association Executive Committee members and honored guests at July 4th Commemoration

The Greater Jamesport Civic Association is led by a five-member Executive Committee elected by the membership for one-year terms, commencing January 1. All current members are invited to nominate themself or another member as a candidate for a position on the Executive Committee.
Executive Committee
Laura Jens-Smith, President
As President of the GJPCA, Laura oversees the Executive Committee and the monthly general members meeting. Laura is a former Riverhead Town Supervisor who brings valuable experience to her volunteer role in the Civic Association. She guides the organization's interaction with local governmental officials and other civic associations to address the concerns of our members. Laura lives in the Riverhead Town hamlet of Laurel.
Steve Green, Vice President
As Vice President of the Civic Association, Steve has corresponded and met with Town officials about issues of concern to the Association’s members and residents of the Greater Jamesport area. Steve is a lawyer and retired general counsel of a publicly traded information company and currently serves on several boards. Steve and his wife Halley split their time between Jamesport and NYC.
Patricia Carey
Patricia is a lifelong advocate for protection of the environment and sustaining wildlife habitat. She has served proudly as Treasurer of Greater Jamesport Civic Association since 2004.
Catherine Welsh, Correspondence Secretary
As Civic Association Correspondence Secretary, Catherine maintains and reports the correspondence of the Civic Association. Â She writes letters as directed by the Executive Committee and the membership. She has an online database of active members. Â As a member of the Executive Committee, she works with her Civic association colleagues to promote the community. Catherine is a retired accountant. A resident of Jamesport and a long time Riverhead Town resident, she feels being part of the Civic Association is an important part of local involvement.
Joan Cear, Recording Secretary
As Civic Association Recording Secretary Joan takes minutes at the membership and Executive Committee meetings, drafts and distributes meeting notices, agendas and minutes. She writes the Association’s Hometown Happenings e-newsletter and like all Executive Committee members, is active in member recruitment and fundraising. Joan is a retired public relations executive and former journalist. A resident of Jamesport, her North Fork roots go back many decades to her grandfather’s days as a farmer and potato broker.
